What is Ghostwriter?
Ghostwriter is Replit’s AI coding assistant for building applications through conversation. Users describe the website or app they want, while the assistant helps create the software for both non-coders and developers who want to inspect, edit, or extend the generated code.
The interaction is iterative: users give feedback in the same workspace and refine the project over time. Ghostwriter supports full-stack web apps, mobile apps, internal tools, landing pages, and prototypes, with a workflow that can continue from development through publishing. It can also create agents and natural-language automations for complex or repetitive work.

Chat-Based App Building
Users describe an app or website in natural language, and the assistant writes the software while accepting further changes through conversation. This is suited to creating full-stack web apps, mobile apps, internal tools, landing pages, and prototypes.
Code Testing and Fixes
The assistant tests the code it generates and improves it through a recurring reflection loop. During the build, it can periodically test the application in a browser, produce a report, and fix the issues it finds.
Service Integrations
Projects can connect to built-in database and user-authentication services as well as third-party tools such as Stripe and OpenAI. This fits application work that needs data storage, authentication, or collaboration with external services.
Publishing and Automations
