What is Notion AI?

Notion AI adds writing, search, and knowledge-processing capabilities directly to a Notion workspace. It can use pages, databases, and files that the current user is permitted to access as context, making it useful for summarizing project material, revising documents, finding team information, and turning scattered notes into actionable work without copying everything into a separate chatbot.

For simpler tasks, users can draft, rewrite, and summarize inside a page. Enterprise Search can find answers across the workspace and connected tools such as Slack or Google Drive, while Research Mode combines internal material, connected applications, and public web sources for broader analysis and reports. Access follows the user's existing permissions, but the sources and conclusions still need review.

Notion AI can also transcribe meetings, identify key points and action items, and assist with database content and formulas. Some capabilities are limited to Business or Enterprise plans, and AI features, connectors, and allowances can change by plan. Teams should confirm data permissions, participant consent for meeting capture, and current pricing before rollout.

Key features of Notion AI

  • Draft, rewrite, and summarize inside pages

Users can draft beside an existing document, change its tone, condense longer material, or extract key points without moving content between an editor and a separate chatbot.

  • Find answers across the workspace

Enterprise Search retrieves permitted pages, databases, and files to answer workplace questions while keeping the underlying material available for inspection.

  • Search connected work applications

Connectors can bring Slack, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, Jira, GitHub, and other work systems into search, reducing the effort of finding scattered information.

  • Generate broader reports with Research Mode

For open-ended questions, Research Mode investigates the workspace, connected apps, and the web to organize multiple sources into a cited analytical report.

  • Capture and organize meeting notes

AI Meeting Notes transcribes a meeting, identifies key points and action items, and stores the result in the workspace for sharing and later search.

  • Assist with database content and formulas

Notion AI can generate or organize database properties from context and help write or revise formulas, supporting more consistent structured project records.
