What is Spline AI?

Spline AI is Spline’s 3D generation tool for turning either a written description or a reference image into a textured 3D model. Users can choose among different visual looks and AI 3D generation models, compare the results, and open a selected model directly in Spline for continued work.

It is aimed at designers and creators who need to explore object concepts quickly, prepare visual starting points, or bring generated assets into an interactive 3D workflow. The generation step is supported by a set of inspection and asset-management tools inside the Spline experience. Users can review a result in shaded, clay, or wireframe modes, inspect its available maps and model statistics, find generated images and models in an asset library, and either take the delivered GLB file or open the result as a Spline scene for lighting, animation, and publishing work.

Key features of Spline AI

  • Text-to-3D generation

Describe an object with a sentence and Spline AI produces several visual options to review. This gives designers a direct way to explore 3D object concepts before selecting a model for further work.

  • Image-to-3D generation

A photo, sketch, or screenshot can be supplied as the reference for image-to-3D generation. The resulting asset is intended to give an existing visual idea volume that can be inspected and developed in Spline.

  • Materials and model inspection

Generated meshes can include base-color, metallic-roughness, and normal maps for a more inspectable material result. Shaded, clay, wireframe, and map-specific views let users examine the surface and structure before committing to an asset.

  • Scene editing and multi-platform publishing

A generated result can be taken as the delivered GLB file or opened as a Spline scene for lighting and animation work. Spline also provides publishing paths for the web, Apple platforms, and Android through platform-specific snippets or project outputs.
